SciLifeLab, Official inauguration
On Wednesday 19th May, the new Science Park at the Karolinska Institute campus in Solna was officially opened. Champagne and acrobatics were served as CEO Märit Johansson cut the blue and yellow ribbon.
One of the two egg-shaped buildings that make up the Karolinska Institute Science Park will house the Stockholm branch of the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab), a government funded initiative to promote multidisciplinary research within the molecular life sciences. The centre is a collaboration between The Stockholm University, Karolinska Institute, Royal Institute of Technology and Uppsala University and our very own Thomas Helleday is director of the Functional Genomics and Bioimaging platform. The goal of SciLifeLab is to act as a resource for researchers in the whole of Sweden, facilitating high-throughput bioscience research with advanced technology. Bo Lundgren from the Helleday laboratory, Stockholm, will be running the high-throughout screens facility at SciLifeLab.
